Learning Chinese - Understanding Hui (回) - 汉字

Heys guys!! What’s up! I hope you’re doing awesome!! Today I’m going to explain the Hui2 回. The 回 hanzi is widely used in chinese language to express “return”. For example 1) 现在我要回家 xiàn zài wǒ yào huí jiā Now I want to go home. (Return home) 2) 请,告诉她给我回个电话 Qǐng, gàosù tā gěi wǒ huí gè diànhuà Please, tell her to give me a call (A return call). So, both examples use Hui2回 to express “return”. At first glance when I looked this ideogram I was starring like “ How can this express the idea of returning?” Well, here is the explanation. In ancient China, there was the whirlpool pictoram.        If thought for a while you realise that In a whirlpool the water always  returns   to the origin. After many years it has evolved to that: So that’s why the word or idea of returning is expressed by drawn like that (A thing that returns to its origin).  Now, we have the current handwriting: So I hope...

Heys guys A really well-known ideogram in chinese is this one that represent person, people or anything related to them: 人 (Ren) We have two famous computer fonts to represent this symbol: Computer standart Or more close to human handwritting: This ideogram haven’t change so much since it has been represented in chinese pictorams. You clearly can see a person with his back curved (Strongly associated with farming labour, someone curved to work on earth). Nowadays, is quitte easy to see a person drawed in the ideogram. Learning Chinese - Understanding Wo (我) Ideogram 汉子

Heys guys When we start to study chinese mandarin (汉语), we face this ideogram 我 (Wǒ). At first glance, it seems scary, intimidating and really hard to master his handwritting. However I will give an simple explanation bellow that might help you to master it. The ideogram can be splited in three parts: The traces sorrounded by a blue circle that is a person in a stand-up position. The trace pointed out by a yellow arrow. This arrow points to a person’s arm. The trace pointed out by a red arrow that is a spear. Now, maybe you are wondering: “Ok I got the person part however what about the spear? What is related? Well. if you take a look this spear is quitte close to Shaolin PuDao however on ancient China the blade used to be more curved like a knife sticked in the spear. Below, the nowadays Shaolin PuDao.
