Learning Chinese - Understanding Wo (我) Ideogram 汉子

Heys guys
When we start to study chinese mandarin (汉语), we face this ideogram 我 (Wǒ).
At first glance, it seems scary, intimidating and really hard to master his handwritting.
However I will give an simple explanation bellow that might help you to master it.
The ideogram can be splited in three parts:
  • The traces sorrounded by a blue circle that is a person in a stand-up position.
  • The trace pointed out by a yellow arrow. This arrow points to a person’s arm.
  • The trace pointed out by a red arrow that is a spear.

Now, maybe you are wondering: “Ok I got the person part however what about the spear? What is related?
Well. if you take a look this spear is quitte close to Shaolin PuDao however on ancient China the blade used to be more curved like a knife sticked in the spear.

Below, the nowadays Shaolin PuDao.
In ancient China was quitte common to someone to carry that knife-spear for protection. So, someone capable to carry and use this weapon can protect and preserve himself better, for consequence. So, this “I” will live better and longer.
This idea can be prooved by remarking that the ideogram the evolution from pictorams to simplified chinese you will release that the draw is the same, just the handwritting has changed.

So, you can see the person and spear in all.

So that are the reasons that explain the “I” chinese ideogram.
